Resemblances

A Collaborative Effort

Resemblances is the result of a collaboration between the Bellingham Youth Media Project, the Bellingham Sister Cities Association, and Filmbuilding.org. Over the course of three intense days, students from Bellingham, WA, Vaasa, Finland, Tateyama, Japan and Port Stephens, Australia formed cross-cultural teams to build films highlighting the resemblances between their cities and their lives.

The concept of filmbuilding (as opposed to filmmaking) is the brainchild of Tom Flint at Filmbuilding.org. Rather than stick to the rigid conventions of typical filmmaking (scripts, storyboards and shot lists), students in this workshop decided how they, as unique groups with unique assets, wanted to express themselves. What you will see are films that are as quirky and artistic as the students who built them. Stay tuned for more workshops coming soon!
